For introductory projects that involve data collection, analyzing data involves visualizing, summarizing descriptive statistics of the data and then potentially running inferential statistics on the data if appropriate. Although, many programs can be used to analyze data, we suggest that students start with Microsoft Excel because most companies, individuals and organizations will have it readily available.
