Two hillslopes tagged Glacier and Wind have been instrumented with equipment. The layout of the site looks like this:
The soil moisture sensors are at depths of 15, 35 and 75 cm at the shoulder, backslope and footslope locations. We use Decagon EC-5 5 cm sensors. We also have an Onset RG-3 tipping bucket rain gage. There is a well adjacent to the channel, and stream height is measured in a stilling well in the stream.
The image above is EC-5 moisture sensors installed in soil profile in Soil site 1A (Glacier footslope).
A soil moisture datalogger (Hobo Microstation) attached to one of moisture sensors at a field site. We download data from this site monthly.
This site is the Glacier stream gage (left bank looking downstream). The white ruler is a visual gage, and the PVC pipe holds a Solinst pressure transducer.
